Item sold
Hello For sale or trade a 1992 dated ZSh-5PS (according to the JAFH book) with a KM-34 mask. The helmet is new, size 2, and the mask used, size 4. Philippe

Does it really have ID tag that says it's ZSh-5PS helmet? If it does, I'll buy it from you.
Thanks,
Alexei

Hi Alexei Well on the shell it is written ZSh-5A, but on the 1992 passport it is written ZSh-5A PS (now I can read cyrillic letters ;-)). Both were issued to me together but the serial numbers are not matching. I think that the guy who sold it to me got mixed up with the papers because he had five of these helmets for sale. Unfortunately he never answered me when I asked him to exchange passports. The helmet really looks like the ZSh-5A PS on page 165 of the JAFH book: brown pads, new unused shell. Maybe all ZSh-5A PS helmets have ZSh-5A tags? Philippe

Phillipe,
There is no such helmet as ZSh-5A PS. Letters PS stand for passport, pretty much all new Russian manuals have this PS abbreviation after the name of the helmet.

Ok - I wonder why they are talking about a ZSh-5A PS on the JAFH book then? Philippe

Philippe,
Ask the author of the book, not me:) It was pointed out on my site and before that by Craig (http://www.gauntletinternational.com/helmets/SovFlite.htm) that JAFH section on Russian helmets is not only far from being complete, but also has numerous errors.
Cheers,
Alexei
